Dear NASA PR Space Grant Consortium Affiliates/Partners:
I am glad to open the funding opportunity for the 2025 NASA PR Space Grant - Affiliates/Partners under the new NASA Cooperative Agreement 80NSSC25M7040.
Affiliate projects must comply with the Executive Orders and focus on NASA Mission Directorates' priorities. NASA Student Challenges are appropriate for the Affiliate proposals involving precollege and college students. The NASA Cooperative Agreement requires the Space Grant Consortia to develop activities explicitly aligned to one or more NASA Mission Directorates:
- Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (http://www.nasa.gov/aeroresearch)
- Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (https://www.nasa.gov/directorates/exploration-systems-development)
- Space Operations Mission Directorate (https://www.nasa.gov/directorates/space-operations-mission-directorate)
- Science Mission Directorate (https://science.nasa.gov)
- Space Technology Mission Directorate (http://www.nasa.gov/directorates/spacetech/home/index.html)
Alignment is best achieved by enabling the participation of students and faculty in NASA STEM Engagement Projects, such as the ones listed below.
- High Altitude Student Platform
- Lunar Navigation Challenge
- Gateways to Blue Skies Competition
- Human Lander Challenge
- RASC-AL Competition
- Lunabotics Challenge
- NASA Student Launch
- Human Exploration Rover Challenge
- Micro-g Neutral Buoyancy Experiment Design Teams
- NASA Project Based Learning for High Schools
- This list is not exhaustive, but it is a good starting point.
The proposed activities can be in any of the following categories:
- Research Projects (NASA-related research carried out in collaboration with NASA centers)
- Higher Education Projects (NASA-related hardware and engineering projects)
- Precollege Projects (NASA-related education projects targeted at precollege students and/or teachers)
- Informal Education Projects (NASA-related outreach activities for large audiences and the general public)
The budget guidelines are:
- The maximum funding request is $20,000 for year 2025-2026.
- Materials, Domestic Travel, Student Stipends are allowed.
- Foreign travel is not allowed.
Applications are submitted online via Submittable until August 29, 2025.
